Mentor Biography
My name is Sean McCormack, and I am a senior Photonics Sciences and Engineering major. I graduated from Dublin Jerome High School in Columbus, Ohio. One of my favorite classes at UCF was Calculus 2, I found the class challenging, but it taught me a lot about how to study effectively and how to study with others in the class. One of my favorite professors at UCF was Dr. Chan for Linear Circuits 1. His class pushed my limits but it taught me a lot about how to study to understand material. I decided to get involved in EXCEL/COMPASS because I believe that it helps build a smaller community at such a large college. I also believe that the COMPASS program gives opportunities to help with deciding what major you want to study early on without falling behind. Some advice would be to make the most out of every opportunity, whether that is by doing research, going to office hours, or meeting new people in your major. Outside of school I like to play video games, listen to music, and hang out with friends.
