Hey there! My name is Noel Turner and I’m a junior majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Religion & Cultural Studies. I graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota Florida, and this is where I took my first anatomy class and fell in love with medicine and science! My favorite class at UCF so far has been Human Anatomy with Dr. Samsam (it’s SO challenging but so fun to learn about how cool the body is). My favorite teacher is Professor Frances Whitehead who is a chemistry lab instructor. She makes the material so interesting and you can tell how passionate she is about her job! I decided to get involved with COMPASS because I know how important it is to use your resources and surround yourself with people who encourage you to do your best! I’m so excited to be a mentor this year and spend time getting to know my mentees, helping them through some of the difficulties a STEM major can bring, and supporting them through their exciting journey here at UCF! Words of wisdom I have for incoming freshman are to do a little bit of work each day, and try and work ahead when you can! When I’m not in class I love volunteering, yoga and hanging by the pool!
