Mentor Biography
Hi guys! My name is Mark Bennett and I am a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering Major. I was a part of the Class of 2024 at Apopka High School, located in Apopka, Fl. During my tenure here, my favorite class has been Intro to Bowling, which I took my freshman year. Surprisingly, I actually learned a lot about bowling and met a ton of cool people in the class. My favorite professor that I’ve had was Professor Young for COM 1000. He is a very funny guy and he has the skill to turn boring topics on the lectures into interesting ones. I first learned about The EXCEL program as a high school senior when I was touring UCF. I liked that they provided resources for STEM students to try and help them succeed so I decided to join. Along with assistance for my STEM courses, I was able to meet tons of similar people and form connections that I wouldn’t have made without EXCEL. My expectation for incoming students is that they are able to utilize all the resources of COMPASS & EXCEL to do their best in classes and become proficient in their field of study. My advice for incoming students is to utilize all the resources that EXCEL provides and to never be afraid to ask questions to your peers, mentors, or instructors. We are all here to help and want the absolute best for everyone. As for me, I like to play basketball, cook, and go to sporting events with my friends.
