Mentor Biography

My name is Kaveesh Patil and I am a Mechanical Engineering major. This is my second year at UCF. In 2023, I graduated from Winter Park High School which is also in the vicinity of Orlando and UCF. In my free time I love to play pickleball, basketball, and go to the gym. One of my favorite classes at UCF was EGN 1007, the second engineering course where in the lab you are tasked with a challenge to build and race a boat against other engineering students here at UCF. One of my favorite professors at UCF was Professor Simon Tang who was an amazing General Chemistry 1 professor. His teaching skills were very top tier compared to most of the professors I have encountered so far. COMPASS is a program that supported me through my first semester at UCF and it helped me adapt to college life. They guide you through many activities that will help you gain more knowledge about the field you are interested in or other fields that may spark your interest. It is very nice to know that you have people at UCF who are rooting for you and your career in STEM.
