My name is Imamia Murshed (pronounced ee-maa-me-yuh) and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at UCF. I want to become a licensed mental health counselor and also work with college students. I graduated from Florida International University in Miami, Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. My favorite class in my program has been Techniques in Counseling taught by Dr. Van Horn. Finding ourselves a mentor can be so impactful and I hope I can be the same for someone. I love making connections with people from all walks of life as there is so much to learn from each other. My experiences include working for the crisis helpline 211 with a keen focus on victim support and suicide prevention. In my spare time I enjoy watching my shows and movies especially comedy and horror. My favorite shows include Once Upon A Time, Stranger Things, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I love taking personality quizzes, writing with an essence of storytelling, and spending time with the people I love. I am eagerly looking forward to meeting and getting to know you all this semester!
Word of advice: Never let someone else be in charge of your self-worth because the only one worthy of it’s possession is you.
