Mentor Biography
My name is Emma Jackson, and I am a Biomedical Sciences major on the pre-medical path. This is going to be my third year at UCF. In 2023, I graduated from A. Crawford Mosley Highschool which is in Panama City, Florida. One of my favorite classes at UCF so far has been Select Medical Careers, SLS2311. It is a course required for students on the pre-medical track that offers an initial perspective into medical careers. I really enjoyed this course because it helped me to know what I need to do to work towards medical school and what career paths I would be interested in. My favorite professor so far has been professor Dencker, I originally was a computer science major, and I had him for three of my beginning coding classes. He is a funny and reliable teacher that makes learning fun by adding in games and stories from his own life while also keeping up with the foundations we needed to know. I chose to participate in this program because it gives the opportunity to students who aren’t sure what they want to do to explore the various programs while surrounded by people with similar uncertainties. This program gives me a chance to help students who were as uncertain as I was and allows the students to pick my brain for everything I have learned over my years at UCF. In my free time I like to read, craft, spend time with my cats (Thorin and Eurydice), and watch tv shows and movies I enjoy.
