Navigate Your Way to a Successful Career in STEM

My name is Taylor Babin, and I am an Industrial Engineering major and Math minor. This is my second year at UCF. In 2016, I graduated from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. My favorite class so far at UCF was Philosophy. I had a very animated teacher who really brought the subject to life. It was an easy class and really made you think about life from a different perspective. My favorite professor, however, was my Physics 1 professor, Enrique Del Barco. Simply because he didn’t just teach, he was active with his students. Plus he was very fair with how he graded, if not extremely generous. I personally got involved with this program because it creates a great support system and community for STEM majors. This program gives its participates the opportunity to get help from more one-on-one tutors. I love this program because it gave me friends that I was able to connect with over a common topic, STEM. Aside from school, I love to read, swim, go to theme parks, and hang out with friends, preferably with food.

My words of advice: It’s okay to change your mind. It’s okay to not know. It’s okay to make a mistake. It’s okay to not be okay. The important thing is to get up and learn from it.
